Born in San Francisco, Jonathan Johnson is the fourth of 5 children borne to Ivan & Delores Johnson.

 

Starting in 1972, Jonathan’s father was Assistant Pastor at Greater Gethsemane COGIC in San Francisco and his Mom played piano and taught the choir. Jonathan started playing the organ at the suggestion of his little brother who was a better drummer than he was.

 

Jonathan left his Dad's church after marrying Chavette in 1983 and started working at Mare Island the same year. Jonathan and Chavette started their own ministry, Rhema Worship Center, here in Vallejo. Several years later they closed their ministry and he became the Minister of Music at New Hope Church.
